.NOW...
At 1140 PM MDT...scattered rain showers and isolated
thunderstorms continued to push west across south central New
Mexico. The strongest storms were located over northern Dona Ana
and southern Sierra counties along the Rio Grande from just south
of Truth or Consequences to just south of Rincon. Other showers
and weaker storms were located over the southern Sacramento
mountains and the lowlands to the east of northern Otero county.
All showers and storms were tracking to the west. Storm intensity
had picked up over the last hour and several storms were producing
frequent lightning, gusty winds, and moderate to heavy rain.
Threats of local flash flooding are still likely in some within
the communities along the Rio Grande. Be careful in low-lying area
and watch for water in low-water crossings. This rainfall and
storm activity is expected to diminish in the next several hours.
However, isolated storms remain possible through the night. If a
storm approaches your location seek shelter and let it pass
safely.
