JANUARY CLOSED THE FIRST MONTH OF THE NEW YEAR AT THE 6TH WARMEST
SPOT FOR THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES. THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE WAS 31.8 DEGREES WHICH IS 8.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
IT IS SANDWICHED BETWEEN 5TH PLACE OF 32.9 IN 2001 AND 7TH PLACE
OF 30.7 DEGREES SET IN 1986. WARMEST TEMPERATURES OCCURRED ON THE
5TH AND 27TH WITH 41 DEGREE READINGS.

AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURES FARED SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL AS
WELL AT THE FIFTH WARMEST PLACE WITH 22.2 DEGREES, ABOUT 11.1
DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. THIS WAS WEDGED BETWEEN THE NUMBER 4
MARK OF 24.4 DEGREES FROM 1985 AND A 22.0 DEGREE MARK FROM 2001.
THE COLDEST DAY OF THE MONTH WAS 10 DEGREES ON THE 15TH.

JANUARY WAS COMING UP DRIER THAN NORMAL WITH THE MONTHLY WATER
EQUIVALENT OF 0.28 INCHES FALLING ON 11 OF THE 31 DAYS. THIS
IS 0.45 INCHES BELOW NORMAL BUT IS TIED FOR 10TH DRIEST WITH
1969. THIS IS SQUEEZED BETWEEN 0.27 INCHES RECEIVED IN 1956 AND
THE 0.33 INCHES FALLING IN 2006. WETTEST DAY FOR THE MONTH
OCCURRED ON THE 28THWITH A DAILY TOTAL OF 0.12 INCHES.

OWING TO THE WARMTH AND LACK OF MOISTURE FOR JANUARY THE MONTHLY
SNOWFALL DROPPED TO THE 8TH LOWEST AMOUNT ON RECORD WITH JUST
3.5 INCHES OR 7.8 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THIS AMOUNT SLIDES IN
BETWEEN THE NUMBER 7 MONTHLY AMOUNT OF 3.1 INCHES FROM 1997 AND
THE NUMBER 9 AMOUNT OF 3.6 INCHES FROM 1979. THE SNOWIEST DAY
HAPPENED ON THE 13TH WITH 2.2 INCHES FALLING.

NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF CONSOLATION BUT AT LEAST THIS YEAR`S
SEASONAL SNOWFALL OF 25.8 INCHES ECLIPSES THE COMPLETE SNOW
SEASON ALL-TIME LOW MARK OF 25.1 INCHES FROM LAST YEAR. HOWEVER
IT IS THE 11TH LEAST SNOWIEST SNOW SEASON TO DATE HIDING BETWEEN
THE 24.4 INCHES RECEIVED IN 1973-74 AND THE 26.3 INCHES RECEIVED
IN 1957-58.
