...FAIRBANKS FINALLY RECEIVES SOME NEW SNOW...

THE FIRST MEASURABLE SNOWFALL FOR NOVEMBER ARRIVED TODAY IN THE
FAIRBANKS AREA. BETWEEN TWO AND FOUR INCHES OF SNOW HAVE BEEN
REPORTED SO FAR TODAY. THE LAST DAY WITH MEASURABLE SNOWFALL AT
THE FAIRBANKS AIRPORT WAS BACK ON OCTOBER 31ST. AS OF YESTERDAY
NOVEMBER 24TH...THE 6.0 INCHES OF SNOW THAT HAS FALLEN SO FAR
THIS WINTER SEASON WAS THE LOWEST TOTAL SNOWFALL OBSERVED THROUGH
NOVEMBER 24TH SINCE 1954. FAIRBANKS NORMALLY RECEIVES 23.3 INCHES
OF SNOW THROUGH NOVEMBER 24TH. ALTHOUGH THE NEW SNOW IS A WELCOME
RELIEF FROM THE CURRENT SNOW DROUGHT...SNOWFALL IS STILL OVER A
FOOT BELOW NORMAL IN FAIRBANKS.

SNOW SHOWERS ARE STILL MOVING ACROSS THE TANANA VALLEY AND ANOTHER
HALF INCH OF SNOW LIKELY BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS OFF THIS EVENING.

HERE ARE SOME SNOW TOTALS REPORTED THROUGH 1 PM TODAY:

NORTH POLE BADGER ELEMENTARY..........4.0 INCHES
TWO RIVERS............................3.0 INCHES
FORT WAINWRIGHT.......................3.0 INCHES
GILMORE TRAIL.........................2.6 INCHES
BIRCH HILL............................2.5 INCHES
FAIRBANKS FORECAST OFFICE.............2.3 INCHES
FAIRBANKS AIRPORT.....................1.9 INCHES
