...RECORD TEMPERATURES IN CASPER WY THIS WEEK...

ARCTIC AIR COUPLED WITH CALM WIND AND CLEARING SKIES ENABLED
SEVERAL RECORD TEMPERATURES TO BE SET IN CASPER WYOMING THIS WEEK.

FIRST...THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT THE CASPER-NATRONA COUNTY
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 11 WAS -19 WHICH TIED THE
PREVIOUS RECORD LOW SET ON THAT DATE IN 2000. ALSO ON TUESDAY...THE
HIGH TEMPERATURE ONLY REACHED 6 DEGREES. THIS SET A NEW RECORD LOW
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR NOVEMBER 11. THE PREVIOUS RECORD HAD BEEN
10 DEGREES SET IN 2000.

ON WEDNESDAY MORNING NOVEMBER 12...THE TEMPERATURE BOTTOMED OUT AT
-26 DEGREES. THIS READING WOULD HAVE SET A NEW RECORD FOR THE DATE
AND FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. HOWEVER...AFTER A VERY COLD
WEDNESDAY...THE TEMPERATURE QUICKLY RETREATED DURING THE LATE
EVENING. THE TEMPERATURE JUST PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT LATE WEDNESDAY
EVENING PLUMMETED TO A NEW LOW OF -27 DEGREES. THUS...THE -27 DEGREE
READING SET A NEW RECORD LOW FOR NOVEMBER 12 WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY
BEEN -11 SET ON THAT DATE IN 1986. THIS NEW RECORD OF -27 DEGREES
ALSO SET THE RECORD FOR THE COLDEST NOVEMBER TEMPERATURE. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD HAD BEEN -21 DEGREES SET ON NOVEMBER 23 1985.

AFTER THE NEW RECORD OF -27 DEGREES WAS SET JUST PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT
ON NOVEMBER 12...THE TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO SLOWLY RISE. BEFORE
MIDNIGHT THE TEMPERATURE ROSE TO -26 DEGREES WHERE IT REMAINED UNTIL
AROUND 1230 AM THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13. THIS -26 DEGREE READING
ESTABLISHED A NEW RECORD LOW FOR THAT DATE. IT BROKE THE OLD RECORD
OF -11 WHICH WAS SET IN 1986.

INCIDENTALLY...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 3 DEGREES ON NOVEMBER 12 ALSO
SET A RECORD FOR THE LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THAT DATE. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD HAD BEEN 10 IN 1986. ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13 THE
HIGH TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO 8 DEGREES. THIS TOO SET A NEW RECORD FOR
THE LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THAT DATE. IT BROKE THE OLD
RECORD OF 15 DEGREES SET IN 1959.

THEREFORE...AS A FINAL SUMMARY HERE ARE THE NEW RECORDS ESTABLISHED
