...River Statement For The Alabama River...



Recent rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the
Alabama River.  However...levels are expected to
remain below established flood stages...and any overflow along the
river should be of a minor nature.

The Alabama River At Montgomery.
 Latest stage:     25.7 feet at 8 AM Sunday.
 Caution stage:    26.0 feet.
 Flood stage:      35.0 feet.
 Forecast:         Crest near 26.2 feet this afternoon
                   and then begin to fall.

* Impact...At 26.0 feet...Some flooding of low lying areas and
  secondary roads begins in the Montgomery area. Flooding of the golf
  course at Maxwell Air Force Base and portions of River Road occurs
  at stages around 30 feet and higher.


Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.

Another statement will be issued Monday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
