...POWERFUL STORM TO IMPACT THE NORTH SLOPE SATURDAY...

A STORM WITH BLOWING SNOW AND STRONG WINDS IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
EAST ACROSS THE NORTH SLOPE SATURDAY. WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW WILL
INCREASE OVER THE AREA FROM BARROW WEST DURING THE DAY SATURDAY
AND CAUSE NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS THERE WITH WINDS TO 35 MPH.

THE WORST CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR OVER THE EASTERN NORTH
SLOPE ON SATURDAY EVENING. WEST WINDS COULD GUST TO 50 MPH AT
PRUDHOE BAY BY SATURDAY EVENING...AND UP TO 70 MPH AT KAKTOVIK. IT
IS EXPECTED THAT WINDS WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY FROM SATURDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING AND CAUSE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
TO DEVELOP RAPIDLY.

THERE IS STILL UNCERTAINTY ABOUT THE TIMING OF THIS STORM BUT IT
DOES SEEM LIKELY THAT IS WILL BE VERY SEVERE AT KAKTOVIK. PEOPLE
AT KAKTOVIK SHOULD PREPARE FOR VERY HIGH WINDS TO OCCUR BY
SATURDAY EVENING.

CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE ON SUNDAY.
