...TROPICAL STORM LAN (25W) MOVING AWAY FROM YAP AND KOROR...

TROPICAL STORM LAN IS CENTERED 255 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF KOROR
AND 350 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF YAP AT 10.8N133.1E. IT IS MOVING
WEST AT 14 MPH WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 40 MPH. FOR MORE
INFORMATION ON TS LAN...SEE PUBLIC ADVISORIES ISSUED BY THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE UNDER WMO HEADER WTPQ32 PGUM. SCATTERED
TO NUMEROUS HEAVY SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING
ACROSS WESTERN YAP STATE AND THE REPUBLIC OF PALAU.

TS LAN WILL STEADILY INTENSIFY AS IT TURNS TOWARD THE NORTHWEST
AND NORTH AND FARTHER AWAY FROM KOROR AND YAP THE NEXT COUPLE OF
DAYS. FRESH TO STRONG MONSOONAL WINDS AND RAINY WEATHER WITH HEAVY
DOWNPOURS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MIDWEEK. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO
6 INCHES ARE LIKELY ACROSS WESTERN YAP STATE AND 2 TO 5 INCHES
ARE POSSIBLE FOR THE REPUBLIC OF PALAU. THESE RAINFALL AMOUNTS
WILL SATURATE SOILS AND INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR MUDSLIDES...
ESPECIALLY FOR THE HIGH PALAU ISLANDS.

MONSOONAL WINDS...WIND WAVES AND SWELL WILL MAINTAIN HAZARDOUS
CONDITIONS FOR SMALL BOATS AND HAZARDOUS SURF MOST OF THIS WEEK.
THEREFORE INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL BY BOAT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THE NEXT
SEVERAL DAYS.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING OUTDOOR OR MARINE ACTIVITY...BE AWARE OF CURRENT
MARINE CONDITIONS AND STAY INFORMED ON LATEST FORECASTS AND
ADVISORIES ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT OFFICES.
