...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST
FRIDAY...

* LOCATIONS...NORTHERN ONEIDA COUNTY.

* ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES WITH
  THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL EXPECTED CLOSE TO THE LEWIS AND OSWEGO COUNTY
  BORDERS.

* TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS HAVE BEEN ONGOING THIS EVENING ACROSS
  NORTHERN ONEIDA WITH RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR. THE BAND
  WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT SOUTH TONIGHT...AND MOVE OUT OF THE AREA
  BY FRIDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW MAY MAKE MANY ROADS IMPASSABLE AND MAY
  PRODUCE WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOW
  ON TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES.

* WINDS...WEST 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE MID 20S.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF LAKE-
EFFECT SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR
IMPOSSIBLE. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES
IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP 1 TO SEVERAL
INCHES OF SNOW PER HOUR FOR SEVERAL HOURS. VISIBILITIES VARY
GREATLY AND CAN DROP TO ZERO WITHIN MINUTES. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY
DISCOURAGED. COMMERCE COULD BE SEVERELY IMPACTED. IF YOU MUST
TRAVEL... KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT... FOOD... AND WATER IN YOUR
VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

* LOCATIONS...SOUTHERN CAYUGA...ONONDAGA...MADISON...CORTLAND...
  CHENANGO AND OTSEGO COUNTIES.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8 INCHES, WITH MUCH OF
  THE SNOWFALL OCCURRING FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT. THE HIGHER
  TERRAIN IN SOUTHERN ONONDAGA AND SOUTHERN MADISON COUNTIES WILL
  SEE THE MOST SNOWFALL.

* TIMING...MORE INTENSE SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATER
  TONIGHT WITH THE MORE PERSISTENT AND HEAVIER LAKE EFFECT SNOW
  BANDS DEVELOPING IN THE REGION DURING THE DAY FRIDAY. INTENSE
  SNOW SHOULD TAPER OFF ON SATURDAY.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY SNOW WILL CREATE SNOW COVERED ROADS AND
  PRODUCE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 5 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE LOWER 20S.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE-EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING.
