.DISCUSSION...
The strong cold front that brought gusty winds, rain and snow,
and a sharp temperature drop has cleared our forecast area to the
east. Measured precipitation amounts for today ranged from 0.25
to 0.4 inches in the Saint Lawrence Valley and the northern
Adirondacks, to 0.1 to 0.25 in the Champlain Valley and eastward.
Any residual showers will quickly come to an end late this
afternoon/early evening. In the wake of the front, expect gusty
north/northwest winds to persist through this evening, diminishing
to under 15 knots during the overnight hours. By Thursday, winds
will further diminish to under 10 knots. The post- frontal air
mass in place Thursday will be very dry, with minimum relative
humidity values in the 25 to 35 percent range. Recent rain and
winds under 10 knots should limit fire weather impacts.
