.DISCUSSION...
A weak frontal boundary is forecast to sag southward through the
area today. Very isolated light rain showers will be possible in
the vicinity of this boundary with amounts expected to be around a
hundredth of an inch. Cloud coverage will also be on the increase
this morning (30% to 50% coverage) but skies should start to
clear out with the passage of the frontal boundary. Minimum RH
values will range from 35% to 50% today with the lowest values
across south- central GA. While RH values are expected to remain
above critical thresholds we will continue to monitor conditions
considering 10hr fuels dried out relatively quickly yesterday
afternoon. At this time, a Fire Danger Statement has not been
issued. Surface and 20ft winds will be out of the W at 7 to 12 MPH
this morning and switch to the WNW across North GA and WSW across
Central GA this afternoon. Isolated wind gusts of 17-20 MPH will
be possible across the highest elevations of NE GA and parts of
the Piedmont Region this afternoon. Tonight winds will switch to
the N at < 5 MPH. Transport winds are forecast to remain out of
the W this morning before switching to the WNW this afternoon at
10 to 24 MPH.
