THIS WINTER SEASON RANKS AS THE THIRD SNOWIEST WINTER SEASON ON
RECORD IN THE FORT WAYNE AREA. THE THREE WINTER MONTHS HAD A
COMBINED TOTAL SNOWFALL OF 45.3 INCHES...19.5 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
ONLY THE WINTER SEASONS OF 1981-82 AND 1977-78 HAD MORE SNOWFALL.
DURING THE 1981-82 SEASON...61.1 INCHES OF SNOW FELL WHILE IN
1977-78 FORT WAYNE RECORDED 49.8 INCHES.

THE METEOROLOGICAL WINTER SEASON IS DEFINED AS DECEMBER 1ST THROUGH
FEBRUARY 28TH...OR 29TH DURING LEAP YEARS.
