...NON-WEATHER EMERGENCY MESSAGE TEST THIS MORNING...

At 1120 am HST, the State of Hawaii Emergency Operations Center
will send a test Non-Weather Emergency Message (NWEM) through the
National Weather Service. The test message will use the
Practice/Demo Warning (DMO) event code. It will be transmitted as
a text product under WMO header WOHW40 PHFO and under AWIPS header
HFODMOHFO. The test message will also be broadcast over NOAA
Weather Radio stations in Hawaii to activate the Emergency Alert
System using EAS event code DMO.

The previous test attempt on January 2nd was not relayed through
NWS systems. The NWS configuration has been updated to properly
relay NWEMs for Hawaii. A second test had been planned for
February 1 but had to be postponed.
