...LARGE SURF...STRONG RIP CURRENTS...AND POSSIBLE COASTAL
FLOODING THROUGH THURSDAY...MAINLY IN ORANGE COUNTY...

.LARGE SOUTH SWELLS FROM HURRICANE MARIE ARE CURRENTLY PEAKING AT
10 FEET. THE SWELL WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE LARGE SURF...STRONG
RIP CURRENTS AND STRONG LONGSHORE CURRENTS THROUGH THURSDAY. MINOR
COASTAL FLOODING AND BEACH EROSION ARE POSSIBLE AS WELL.

SURF OF 8 TO 12 FEET IS EXPECTED TODAY ACROSS ORANGE COUNTY.
OCCASIONAL SETS AT SOME BEACHES DURING THIS TIME COULD REACH
15 TO 18 FEET. SURF GENERALLY LESS THAN 7 FEET IS EXPECTED IN SAN
DIEGO COUNTY...ALTHOUGH RIP CURRENTS AND LONGSHORE CURRENTS WILL
BE PARTICULARLY STRONG.

THE SOUTH SWELLS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH THROUGH THURSDAY...BUT
SURF IN ORANGE COUNTY WILL CONTINUE ABOVE 7 FEET THROUGH
THURSDAY.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* SURF AND TIMING...TODAY...8 TO 12 FEET WITH OCCASIONAL SETS OF
  15 TO 18 FEET AT FAVORED BEACHES. TONIGHT...7 TO 10 FEET WITH
  LOCAL SETS TO 12 FEET. THURSDAY...5 TO 7 FEET WITH LOCAL SETS
  TO 10 FEET.

* COASTAL FLOODING POTENTIAL...SOME COASTAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE
  ALONG SOUTH FACING BEACHES AND LOW LYING AREAS TODAY...MAINLY
  DURING HIGH TIDE LATE THIS EVENING.

* IMPACTS...WILL BE GREATEST ALONG THE BEACHES OF ORANGE COUNTY
  WHERE DAMAGE TO PIERS AND OTHER STRUCTURES IS POSSIBLE...ALONG
  WITH SOME BEACH EROSION. THE LARGE SURF WITH VERY STRONG RIP
  CURRENTS AND LONGSHORE CURRENTS WILL CREATE EXTREMELY
  DANGEROUS SWIMMING AND SURFING CONDITIONS. OCCASIONALLY LARGER
  WAVES CAN APPEAR UNEXPECTEDLY...WASHING OVER ROCKS AND JETTIES
  NEAR THE WATERS EDGE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
EROSION.

* IMPACTS...STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND STRONG LONGSHORE CURRENTS
  WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS SWIMMING AND SURFING CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS SUCH AS STRONG
RIP CURRENTS...ELEVATED SURF HEIGHTS...MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW...OR
LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE AT LOCAL BEACHES. OBEY POSTED WARNING
SIGNS AND FLAGS AND TALK TO A LIFEGUARD BEFORE SWIMMING. USE
CAUTION WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER AND ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.
