JULY BEGAN WITH SOME WARM, SUMMER-LIKE TEMPERATURES AND MODERATE
HUMIDITY WHICH LASTED THROUGH INDEPENDENCE DAY. GRADUALLY, THOUGH,
MORE DRY AIR BEGAN MOVING INTO THE AREA ALONG WITH SOME COOLER
TEMPERATURES. THE SUMMER WARMTH RETURNED FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE
MONTH, WHEN CONCORD ENDURED A WEEK OF SUSTAINED WARMTH INCLUDING 3
STRAIGHT DAYS OF 90 DEGREES FROM THE 19TH THRU 21ST. THE SUMMER HEAT
BROKE WHEN A COLD FRONT CAME THROUGH ON THE 23RD, BRINGING
SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER WEATHER. JUST A FEW DAYS AFTER HITTING 90
DEGREES, CONCORD SAW A HIGH OF ONLY 61 DEGREES ON JULY 24 ALONG WITH
SOME RAINFALL. THIS WAS THE COLDEST JULY HIGH TEMPERATURE IN 25
YEARS (SINCE JULY 4, 1992). THE COOLER THAN NORMAL WEATHER CONTINUED
THROUGH MUCH OF THE REST OF THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR JULY WAS 70.0 DEGREES WHICH IS THE
NORMAL VALUE FOR THE MONTH AND THE COOLEST JULY SINCE 2009. THE
COLDEST JULY WAS IN 1969 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 65.4
DEGREES. THE WARMEST WAS IN 1872 WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS
75.2 DEGREES.

A TOTAL OF 1.21 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL WHICH WAS 2.53 INCHES
BELOW NORMAL AND THE 8TH DRIEST JULY ON RECORD. THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION FELL ON THE 24TH WHEN JUST UNDER HALF AN INCH OF RAIN
WAS OBSERVED. THE DRIEST JULY ON RECORD WAS IN 1910 WHEN ONLY 0.91
INCHES OF RAIN FELL. THE WETTEST WAS IN 1915 WHEN 10.29 INCHES FELL.
THE FOLLOWING TABLE LISTS THE DRIEST JULYS ON RECORD AT CONCORD.
