HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ELKO NV
137 AM PDT SUN MAY 8 2016

...MOUNTAIN STREAMS ARE RUNNING STRONG...

AS A STORM SYSTEM CONTINUES TO MOVE THROUGH THE STATE TODAY...HEAVY
RAIN WILL BE POSSIBLE AT TIMES. WITH SNOW LEVELS ABOVE 8000
FEET...RAINFALL AND ACCELERATED SNOW-MELT WILL LEAD TO HIGHER
FLOWS IN LOCAL RIVERS AND STREAMS.

WITH RIVERS CREEKS AND STREAMS ALREADY RUNNING STRONG...THE
EXPECTED ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AND SNOW-MELT WILL CAUSE SOME SMALLER
MOUNTAIN STREAMS TO EXCEED BANK-FULL...LEADING TO SOME MINOR
FLOODING ISSUES.

THE JARBIDGE RIVER IS RUNNING ABOUT ONE-HALF FOOT BELOW MINOR
FLOOD STAGE AND LAMOILLE CREEK IS RISING HIGHER EACH EVENING...WHICH
COULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO MINOR FLOODING PROBLEMS. THERE ARE
REPORTS OF A LOG JAM UPSTREAM OF THE TOWN OF JARBIDGE THAT COULD
INCREASE THE FLOOD RISK FOR JARBIDGE. IF TRAVELING IN THE BACK-
COUNTRY THIS WEEK...BE AWARE THAT SOME DIRT OR GRAVEL ROADWAYS MAY
BECOME IMPASSABLE AT TIMES.
