The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Brunswick County in south central Virginia...
  Northwestern Dinwiddie County in south central Virginia...
  Northeastern Lunenburg County in south central Virginia...
  Nottoway County in south central Virginia...

* Until 1230 AM EDT.

* At 919 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches
  of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Blackstone, Crewe, Victoria, Kenbridge, Nottoway, Fort Barfoot,
  Spainville, Wilsons, Dundas, Dominy Corner, Blackstone Airport,
  Forkland, Irby, Pattersons Store, Wellville, Murdocks, North
  Wellville, Clay Store, Barrows Store and Darvills.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
