Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
259 PM EDT Sat Sep 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...Weak surface high pressure centered over the Ohio Valley
will continue to push drier air down into the forecast area through
Monday, although temperatures will remain above normal.

The pressure gradient will be weak enough to support poor dispersion
from about 8 PM this evening to 9 AM Sunday morning, during the time
of inversion. Limited low-level moisture and some weak mixing will
prevent all but shallow ground fog near river valleys from forming.

Surface winds Sunday will be from the northeast around 5 mph after
daybreak, then increase to around 10 mph by afternoon. Transport winds
will be similar in direction with speeds of 10 to 15 mph from late
morning through late afternoon. Relative humidities will drop to
near 45 percent.
