.DISCUSSION...
A weak frontal boundary is currently draped across Central GA (in
the vicinity of the metro) and is expected to continue sagging south
through the day. Some isolated patchy fog will be possible in low
lying areas for a few hours this morning prior to sunrise.
Otherwise, drier conditions are anticipated for today with
minimum RH values dropping between 25-30% this afternoon. We will
continue to monitor RH trends through the morning considering 10hr
fuels dried out pretty well yesterday. No Fire Danger Statement
has been issued at this time. Aside from some scattered clouds
across south- central GA this morning skies will be mostly clear
today. Cloud coverage will start to increase this evening (30-50%
coverage) across NW Georgia. Winds will be pretty tricky to pin
down today given the weak boundary draped across the state. Light
northerly winds (< 5 MPH) this morning will switch over to the
NE/E by mid- morning (~9-10AM) at < 6 MPH. Wind direction looks to
become variable through the afternoon largely due to the weak
boundary moving southward. Depending on the location of the
boundary, areas to the north will see light NW winds, while areas
south of the boundary will see light NE winds. Tonight the
boundary will lift back north and winds will be out of the west at
< 5 MPH. Transport winds look to behave similarly as far as
direction, though wind speeds in Central Georgia will range from 7
to 12 MPH and in North GA 3 to 6 MPH. Mixing heights will top out
around 5kft in North GA and between 6 to 7kft in Central Georgia.
Some isolated light rain showers will be possible across western
GA overnight as the surface boundary lifts back north.
