Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
234 PM MDT Wed Jul 26 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: Hot and dry conditions continue with high pressure over the area.
Monsoon moisture will bring thunderstorm chances for the Salmon River
District, Nez Perce NF and Bitterroot NF through tonight. A few of the
storms could be quite wet generally south and east of Elk City towards
Mackay Bar with up to 0.50 per hour rates under the cores. Erratic
wind gusts to 40 mph are generally possible, but couldn`t rule out
stronger gusts near the strongest storms. Humidity recoveries will be
poor over the northern areas, while locations further south could see
slightly better ones due to previous shower activity.

The hot and dry weather pattern will continue through this weekend and
well into next week with only slight chances for afternoon/evening
thunderstorms.

Montana: Hot and mostly dry conditions will prevail through the rest of
the week. Increasing smoke could actually prevent some locations from
seeing their warmest potential during the day. Increasing thunderstorm
chances today and Thursday from the Bitterroot Mountains east and south
to southwest Montana. Thunderstorms could be quite wet in these areas
with heavy rain under the direct cores. Also another threat will be
gusty winds to 40 mph. More thunderstorm activity expected on Thursday
from the Lolo NF southwards with much better chances for wetter storms
across the southern Bitterroot and much of the Beaverhead/Deerlodge NF.

The hot and dry weather pattern will continue through this weekend and
well into next week with only slight chances for afternoon/evening
thunderstorms, mainly to the southern Bitterroot and
Beaverhead/Deerlodge NF.
