FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
911 AM PDT THU JUL 24 2014

...ONE MORE COOL AND MOIST DAY BEFORE WARMING TREND BEGINS...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...WEAKENING LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST TODAY...KEEPING A FEW SHOWERS AROUND MAINLY IN THE
HIGHER TERRAIN. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW NORMAL TODAY WITH HIGH
RH...WITH A CHILLY NIGHT ON TAP FOR TONIGHT. A SIGNIFICANT WARMING
AND DRYING TREND WILL BEGIN FRIDAY AND CONTINUE INTO THE WEEKEND.

.DISCUSSION...WETTING RAINS FELL ACROSS MOST OF WESTERN WASHINGTON AND
NORTHWEST OREGON THE PAST 36 HOURS...WITH AS MUCH AS 1 TO 2 INCHES IN OUR
NORTH COAST RANGE AND CASCADE ZONES. THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE
FOR THIS RAIN IS MOVING ONSHORE NEAR THE COLUMBIA RIVER...AND WILL TRACK
ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TODAY. SOME BREEZY CONDITIONS THIS MORNING
WILL LIKELY GIVE WAY TO SOMEWHAT LIGHTER WINDS THIS AFTERNOON...AND MORE
TYPICAL TERRAIN DRIVEN WINDS TONIGHT AND FRIDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS
ACROSS THE REGION. THE TREND WILL BE FOR WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS
TO DEVELOP FRIDAY THROUGH THIS WEEKEND. A SUBSIDENCE INVERSION IS
POSSIBLE FRIDAY NIGHT YIELDING VERY POOR HUMIDITY RECOVERY FOR THE HIGHER
CASCADE RIDGETOPS. AN INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE AIR MASS IS LIKELY THIS
WEEKEND AS THE HOTTER WEATHER PROMOTES A THERMAL TROUGH OVER THE
WILLAMETTE VALLEY. ADDITIONALLY...A WEAK DISTURBANCE MAY INCORPORATE
SOME MONSOON MOISTURE FOR A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SUNDAY OR SUNDAY
NIGHT. WEAGLE
