Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
303 PM MDT Sun Apr 23 2017

...A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONDAY FROM NOON UNTIL
7 PM FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE
WEATHER ZONE 224 WHICH INCLUDES THE SAN LUIS VALLEY...

.Discussion...

Windy conditions can be expected on Monday, especially from the
late morning hours through the early evening. With dry fuels in
the San Luis Valley, the strong winds and low humidities will
result in high fire danger. Other areas with low humidities
and gusty winds do not have critically dry fuels. Then central
Colorado mountains should see isolated to scattered showers
late tonight and on Monday, and there could be some thunderstorms
in the afternoon hours.

Tuesday and through the weekend, the weather will be cooler and
wetter. A series of weather system will move across the area,
bringing periods of precipitation. At this time, it looks like
the best chances for widespread, wetting precipitation will be
late Tuesday and early Wednesday, and then again on Friday and
Saturday. Temperatures will run below average during this
period, with a possible freeze over the weekend.

Excellent smoke dispersion is expected from late morning Monday
through Monday evening.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
