Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
825 PM MST Mon Feb 27 2017

...A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON UNTIL 6 PM TUESDAY
FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW HUMIDITIES AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 229...230...233 AND 237 WHICH INCLUDES HUERFANO...LAS ANIMAS
AND BACA COUNTIES...

.Discussion...

A cold front will move through southeast Colorado Tuesday morning
likely bringing relief from the critical fire weather conditions
to most of the plains. However, areas south of Highway 50 could
reach critical to near critical conditions in the afternoon
before the cold front arrives. Best estimate right now is that
Huerfano, Las Animas and Baca counties will again see critical
fire weather conditions, and thus a Red Flag Warning is in effect
for these areas on Tuesday from noon until 6 pm.

Although continued dry, winds will be lighter starting Wednesday
through the remainder of the week for a reprieve in fire weather
conditions. Looks like the fire threat will ramp again next
Sunday into Monday as a new Pacific weather system approaches.

Ventilation rates will generally be good or better most areas
of the district tomorrow. On Wednesday, rates will generally
be fair to good.
