Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
554 AM CST Sat Nov 18 2017

.DISCUSSION...
As expected breezy southwesterly 20-foot wind conditions ensued
early this morning /15-20 mph sustained/, courtesy of a tightened
sfc pressure gradient. A cold front is approaching the Four-State
Region from the northwest, and will impinge on the area from
northwest to southeast by late morning/early afternoon. The
pressure gradient will remain tight with the cold frontal passage
thus 20-foot northwest wind speeds of 15-25 mph with higher gusts,
will be common place. These wind speeds equate Lake Wind Advisory
criteria, and hence the advisory remains in effect for the
ARKLATEX and southeast OK until early this evening /where
thereafter wind speeds will have decline to below advisory
thresholds/. Although rather breezy conditions will exist, this
cold front will usher in a cooler airmass with temperatures
dropping into the 70s /with a few lower 80s across deep east Texas
and portions of central LA/, and in addition relative humidity
values although drier than recent days, will only fall into the
45-65 percent range this afternoon /which is above critical
thresholds/. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop along
the front this afternoon, particularly across portions of deep
east TX, southwest AR, and northern and central LA. Although
temperatures will be above seasonal average and breezy conditions
will occur, humidities will remain above 30 percent. Nonetheless,
burns are highly discouraged due to the wind speeds.

The cooler airmass will definitely be felt overnight /overnight
temperatures in the 30s and 40s/ and during the day tomorrow /high
temperatures in the 60s/. Humidities will recover in the 70-80
percent range overnight, but will fall into the 30-40 percent
range tomorrow afternoon, as drier air also engulfs the region.
Although humidities will approach critical thresholds, below
normal temperatures and rather light 20-foot northerly wind speeds
of less than 10 mph equates low fire weather concerns.
