SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE WILL PERSIST OVER THE EASTERN BEAUFORT SEA
THROUGH THURSDAY. WEAK LOW PRESSURE IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST OVER THE
NORTHERN CHUKCHI SEA THROUGH THURSDAY... SHIFTING OVER THE NORTHERN
BEAUFORT SEA FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL
MOVE OVER THE CHUKCHI SEA AND NORTHERN ALASKA COAST FRIDAY THROUGH
SATURDAY.

THE MAIN ICE EDGE LIES FROM THE ALASKA COAST NEAR POINT FRANKLIN TO
71.1N 157.6W TO 71.2N 166.1W TO 70.0N 170.2W TO 71.2N 174.0W TO
68.8N 174.6W TO THE RUSSIAN COAST NEAR 67.0N 172.6W. THE ICE EDGE IS
MAINLY OPEN WATER.

FORECAST THROUGH SATURDAY FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA...SOUTHWESTERLY TO
WESTERLY FLOW IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST OVER MUCH OF THE CHUKCHI SEA
ICE EDGE THROUGH THURSDAY... WITH WINDS BECOMING LIGHTER
NORTHWESTERLY TO SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THE ICE
EDGE EAST OF 161W IS VERY COMPACT AT THIS TIME AND WE EXPECT MINIMAL
ICE RETREAT THROUGH SATURDAY. WEST OF 161W THE OVERALL ICE PACK IS
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE SLOWLY DECREASING IN CONCENTRATION WITH A
RETREAT TO THE NORTHEAST 5 TO 15 NM THROUGH SATURDAY.
