ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...MODERATE TO HIGH

SYNOPSIS...LOW PRESSURE OVER EASTERN SIBERIA WILL WEAKEN THROUGH
TUESDAY. A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD OVER THE SOUTHERN
BERING SEA AND SOUTHWEST ALASKA TUESDAY... REMAINING OVER SOUTHWEST
ALASKA THROUGH FRIDAY. A LOW WILL MOVE OVER THE WESTERN BERING SEA
WEDNESDAY AND REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. HIGH
PRESSURE WILL PERSIST OVER MUCH OF THE BEAUFORT AND CHUKCHI SEAS
THROUGH SATURDAY.

FORECAST THROUGH SATURDAY FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA...DURING THIS TIME IT
IS POSSIBLE THAT DETERIORATING SHOREFAST ICE LYING BEYOND BARRIER
ISLANDS IN THE VICINITY OF CAPE LISBURNE...POINT FRANKLIN...AND
ALONG THE COAST FROM POINT LAY TO ICY CAPE COULD CONTINUE TO BREAK
OFF AND DRIFT OFFSHORE. EXTRA CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHILE ON OR NEAR
THE COASTAL ICE IN THESE REGIONS THROUGH SATURDAY.

PKZ181-NORTH AND WEST OF NUNIVAK ISLAND-
PKZ180-KUSKOKWIM DELTA AND ETOLIN STRAIT-

THE MAIN ICE EDGE IN THE BERING SEA EXTENDS FROM A POINT NEAR PORT
CLARENCE TO 65.4N 167.8W TO 63.7N 166W TO 61.8N 167.3W TO 62N 171.6W
TO THE SOUTHERN COAST OF SAINT LAWRENCE ISLAND. THE ICE EDGE THEN
CONTINUES FROM NEAR GAMBELL TO 64.1N 168.6W TO 65.8N 169.7W TO THE
RUSSIAN COAST. LOW CONCENTRATIONS OF DETERIORATING SEA ICE ALSO
REMAIN NEAR THE NORTH COAST OF SAINT MATTHEW ISLAND AND OFF THE WEST
COAST OF SAINT MATTHEW ISLAND TO THE RUSSIAN COASTLINE. THE ICE EDGE
IS MAINLY OPEN WATER.

FORECAST THROUGH SATURDAY FOR THE BERING SEA...SOUTHERLY TO WESTERLY
FLOW WILL PERSIST OVER MUCH OF THE ICE PACK THROUGH SATURDAY.

SEA ICE CONCENTRATIONS IN THE BERING SEA WILL CONTINUE TO DECREASE
THROUGH SATURDAY. WE EXPECT THE REMAINING SEA ICE FROM SAINT MATTHEW
ISLAND TO OFFSHORE FROM THE RUSSIAN COASTLINE TO MELT OUT TO SEA ICE
FREE CONDITIONS BY SATURDAY OWING TO WIND AND WAVE ACTION.

COASTAL ICE ALONG THE NORTHERN SIDE OF SAINT LAWRENCE ISLAND IS ALSO
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO DETERIORATE THROUGH SATURDAY. LARGE SECTIONS
OF THE COASTAL ICE COULD BREAK OFF AND DRIFT TO THE NORTHEAST. EXTRA
CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHILE ON OR NEAR THE COASTAL ICE IN THIS
REGION THROUGH SATURDAY.
