...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1958, a huge winter storm hit the Northeast and
Eastern United States.Interior New England was
overwhelmed by around 2.5 feet of snow.  Boston`s Logan
Airport received around 20 inches in 24 hours.Later,
the Mid Atlantic Coast was walloped by as much as 3 feet
of snow, resulting in 43 deaths and around $500 million
damage.  The Baltimore Washington area received around 15
inches.  In 1936 South Dakota set their all-time record
low temperature when McIntosh, located in the
North-Central part of the state, plunged to 58 below
zero.

In 1990, the biggest winter storm of the season slammed
the Pacific Coast.  Snow occurred along the Northern
California Coast.  Two day totals in the mountains
reached around 5.5 feet at Echo Summit, 4 feet at Green
Valley, and nearly 4 feet at Big Bear, while 2 to 3 foot
accumulations overwhelmed the Oregon Cascades.
