...MAY 2016 IS THE WETTEST ALL TIME AT RICHMOND VA...

AS OF 8 PM THIS EVENING, 0.94 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN TODAY AT
THE RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS RAINFALL INCREASED THE
MONTHLY TOTAL FOR MAY TO 9.36 INCHES, BREAKING THE PREVIOUS
MONTHLY RECORD FOR RAINFALL IN MAY OF 9.13 INCHES SET IN 1889.

WITH NEARLY AN INCH OF ADDITIONAL RAINFALL FORECAST DURING THE NEXT
COUPLE OF DAYS, THE MAY TOTAL AT RICHMOND COULD VERY WELL EXCEED
10 INCHES. SHOULD THAT HAPPEN, IT WILL BE ONLY THE SECOND TIME SINCE
RECORDS BEGAN AT RICHMOND THAT A MONTH PRIOR TO JULY HAD 10 INCHES
OR MORE OF PRECIPITATION. THE OTHER OCCURRENCE WAS JANUARY 1937
(10.08 INCHES).
