...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT SOUTHEASTERN MAINLAND DARE AND
SOUTHEASTERN OUTER BANKS DARE COUNTIES...

At 1149 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Wanchese, or
16 miles south of Kill Devil Hills, moving southeast at 40 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Buxton, Salvo, Avon, Waves, Rodanthe, Wanchese, Hatteras Island
Fishing Pier, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Avon Pier, Outer Banks Fishing
Pier and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
