THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WATCH FOR THE KERN COUNTY DESERT AND MOUNTAIN AREAS FOR SNOW...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 2000 FEET.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE...RIDGECREST...CALIFORNIA CITY...
  EDWARDS...ROSAMOND...MOJAVE...BORON...TEHACHAPI...LAKE
  ISABELLA...KERNVILLE...FRAZIER PARK...ALL HIGHWAYS THROUGH THIS
  REGION INCLUDING...14...58...178 AND 395...INTERSTATE 5. THIS
  INCLUDES ALL MOUNTAIN PASSES.

* SNOW AMOUNTS...GENERALLY 1 TO 2 INCHES ON THE DESERT FLOOR WITH
  UP TO 7 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAIN AREAS.

* SNOW LEVEL...LOWERING TO 2000 FEET.

* WINDS...NORTH TO NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO OVER 35
  MPH THROUGH PASSES AND OVER RIDGES.

* TIMING...RAIN AND SNOW BEGINNING TUESDAY AFTERNOON TURNING OVER
  TO ALL SNOW DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...MAJOR TRAVEL PROBLEMS DUE TO SNOW AND ICE ON MOST
  ROADWAYS.
