...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

.A VERY STRONG...COLD STORM FROM SOUTHWESTERN CANADA WILL MOVE
SOUTH ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. SNOW
LEVELS WILL FALL RAPIDLY TUESDAY NIGHT...REACHING AROUND 2000 FEET
BY WEDNESDAY MORNING...MAINLY IN SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE
COUNTIES. THIS SHOULD BRING SNOW TO THE DESERT FLOOR IN THE APPLE
VALLEY TO LUCERNE VALLEY AREA AND POSSIBLY AREAS AROUND YUCAIPA
AND BEAUMONT IN THE INLAND EMPIRE. THERE WILL OF COURSE BE SNOW IN ALL
MOUNTAIN AREAS. THE SNOW SHOWERS SHOULD TAPER OFF WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON FROM NORTH TO SOUTH.

* SNOW LEVELS...AROUND 3000 FEET TUESDAY EVENING...RAPIDLY
LOWERING OVERNIGHT TO NEAR 2000 FEET BY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* TIMING...TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...GENERALLY 2 TO 4 INCHES ON THE DESERT FLOOR
  WITH AROUND 4 TO 8 INCHES IN THE MOUNTAINS. LOCAL SNOW FALL
  COULD EXCEED 10 INCHES IN PARTS OF THE RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO
  COUNTY MOUNTAINS.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH LOCAL GUSTS TO OVER 45 MPH
  THROUGH PASSES AND OVER RIDGES TUESDAY EVENING...SHIFTING TO
  NORTH EARLY WEDNESDAY.

* VISIBILITY...VISIBILITIES OCCASIONALLY REDUCED TO BELOW ONE-
  HALF MILE IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

* IMPACTS...MAJOR TRAVEL PROBLEMS DUE TO SNOW AND ICE ON MOST
  ROADWAYS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND HIGHER DESERT AREAS.

* OUTLOOK...SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF DURING THE EVENING WEDNESDAY.
