...WINTER STORM MOVING THROUGH THE NORTHERN SIERRA THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING...

.A PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS HAS BEGUN THIS AFTERNOON
AND WILL CONTINUE INTO EARLY EVENING ACROSS THE NORTHERN SIERRA
AND SOUTHERN CASCADES AS A FAST MOVING COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH
THE REGION. THE SNOW AND STRONG WIND ARE LIKELY TO LEAD TO TRAVEL
DELAYS ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN PASSES INTO THE EVENING HOURS AS SNOW
LEVELS FALL AND SNOW ACCUMULATES WELL BELOW PASS LEVELS.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL DELAYS LIKELY DUE TO CHAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR
  HEAVY SNOW AND POOR VISIBILITY IN BLOWING SNOW.

* TIMING: THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL
  LIKELY OCCUR LATE IN THE AFTERNOON INTO EARLY EVENING.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: CHESTER...QUINCY...LASSEN NATIONAL PARK...
  BLUE CANYON...DONNER PASS...ECHO SUMMIT...CARSON PASS.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH. GUSTS

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 3 TO 6 INCHES WITH UP TO 10 INCHES
