...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 03/01/17 THUNDERSTORM WIND EVENT...

A storm damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service
in Jackson, Kentucky found microburst straight line wind damage
consistent with wind speeds of 90 to 100 mph in a neighborhood
about 6 miles west-northwest of Irvine in Estill County.

SURVEY_SUMMARY: High winds uprooted several large trees in an
area near the intersection of Drowning Creek Ridge and Ben Hurt
Road, off of Highway 1353, about 6 miles west-northwest of Irvine,
Kentucky. In addition, some vehicles were damaged including one
car that had been overturned. One house had a large section of the
roof torn off and a garage was completely destroyed. One resident
sustained minor injuries to his face as a result of glass and was
forced through an interior wall as he tried to shut his front
door.
