...LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING AND VERY STRONG WINDS POSSIBLE FROM NEAR
DAWN ON TUESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT...

A STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA FORM WEST TO
EAST ON TUESDAY AND WILL PRODUCE HEAVY SHOWERS AND STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS. MANY AREAS COULD QUICKLY PICK UP BETWEEN 1 AND 2
INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE DAY TUESDAY. DUE TO THE ALREADY SATURATED
SOILS...THIS COULD LEAD TO LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING ACROSS EASTERN
KENTUCKY WITH STREAMS...DITCHES AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS RUNNING FULL.

THERE IS ALSO A POTENTIAL FOR VERY STRONG WINDS. HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS
OR THUNDERSTORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE STRONG AND
POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. THESE STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE
JUST AHEAD OF AND BEHIND THE FRONT AS IT PASSES THROUGH THE AREA.

IN ADDITION...HARLAN AND LETCHER COUNTIES COULD RECEIVE VERY
LOCALIZED DAMAGING WINDS DUE TO GRAVITY WAVES MIXING THE STRONG WINDS
DOWN TO THE SURFACE FROM NEAR DAWN ON TUESDAY TO TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
THESE GRAVITY WAVES CAN OCCUR WHEN VERY STRONG WINDS BLOW
PERPENDICULAR TO THE MOUNTAINS. IT SETS UP GRAVITY WAVES WHICH MIX
THE STRONG WINDS SUDDENLY DOWN TO THE SURFACE. THESE WINDS ARE CAPABLE
OF DOWNING TREES AND DAMAGING STRUCTURES.
