.PRECIPITATION IS MOVING ACROSS KENTUCKY MAINLY IN THE FORM OF
RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN IN THE SOUTHWEST...WITH SOME SLEET AND WET
SNOW OCCURRING IN THE EAST AND NORTHERN PORTIONS...PARTICULARLY
ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE CUMBERLAND VALLEY IN FAR SOUTHEASTERN
KENTUCKY AND POINTS NORTH OF THE HAL ROGERS PARKWAY...WHERE HEAVY
SNOW CONTINUES TO FALL. THIS IS MAKING TRAVEL CONDITIONS
TREACHEROUS. TRAVEL IS ONLY ADVISED IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY
THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. EXPECT THIS WINTRY MIX TO CONTINUE THROUGH
THE AFTERNOON...BEFORE FINALLY TRANSITIONING TO MAINLY RAIN BY
THIS EVENING ACROSS SOUTHEAST AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF KENTUCKY.

THE GROUND TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF EASTERN
KENTUCKY HAS FINALLY RISEN ABOVE FREEZING AND ANY FREEZING RAIN
OR SLEET HAS TRANSITIONED OVER TO RAIN. THERE MAY BE A FEW POCKETS
THAT BRIEFLY MIX WITH FREEZING RAIN BUT ALL PRECIP SHOULD BE
RAIN. IN ADDITION...SOME OF THE RAIN WILL FALL HEAVY AT TIMES
CREATING PONDING ON ROADWAYS AND COMBINED WITH THE RESIDUAL ICE
AND SLUSH ON THE ROADWAYS...THIS WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
CONDITIONS THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

* FREEZING RAIN...MIXING WITH SLEET...SNOW...AND RAIN AT TIMES...
  WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO ALL
  RAIN THIS EVENING. WHILE TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO VERY SLOWLY
  RISE...GROUND TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO LAG BEHIND THE AIR
  TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE AFTERNOON...ALLOWING FOR SOME
  ADDITIONAL ICE ACCRUAL THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

* UP TO A HALF INCH OF TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED...WITH
  AN INCH OR LESS OF SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATION. THE EXCEPTION
  WILL BE PORTIONS OF BELL COUNTY...WHERE TOTAL SNOW
  ACCUMULATION WILL EXCEED 6 INCHES IN PLACES.

* ICE COVERED ROADS AND SIDEWALKS WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE
  TREACHEROUS TRAVELING CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. ONLY
  TRAVEL IF IT IS AN EMERGENCY. THE ACCUMULATION OF ICE ON POWER
  LINES WILL BRING THE THREAT OF POWER OUTAGES ACROSS THE AREA. IN
  ADDITION...THE POSSIBILITY OF HEAVY WET SNOW...IN COMBINATION
  WITH THIS ICE...COULD CAUSE EXTRA STRESS ON ROOFS AND OVERHANGS
  THAT ARE ALREADY SNOW COVERED...LEADING TO POTENTIAL COLLAPSES
  OF WEAK STRUCTURES.
