Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
317 PM CST Mon Feb 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Record or near record high temperatures are expected on Tuesday
across western and north central Nebraska. Widespread highs in the
70s are forecast. The combination of warm temperatures and dry
boundary layer conditions, will lead to minimum relative
humidities of 15 to 20 percent Tuesday afternoon. Winds are
expected to be in the 10 to 20 MPH range Tuesday afternoon, so
critical fire weather conditions are not anticipated attm.
However, winds will need to be watched closely in zone 204 as
windy conditions are expected in the western panhandle and eastern
Wyoming. If winds do materialize, a red flag warning may be needed
in zone 204. Across southwestern Nebraska minimum relative
humidity may reach around 15 percent Tuesday afternoon. However,
winds will be lighter with 5 to 15 MPH wind speeds expected.
Extreme fire weather conditions are expected once again on
Wednesday, however slightly cooler temperatures are forecast, so
the threat for critical fire weather conditions is not as great as
on Tuesday.
