.NOW...

At 823 PM CDT/723 PM MDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
from 9 miles southwest of Johnstown to 6 miles southeast of Whitman,
moving east at 25 mph.

This evening...a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect.
Thunderstorms could become severe and produce large hail and wind
damage. The thunderstorm activity underway should continue to move
east affecting areas along and north of Nebraska highway 2 to
Thedford and then along and north of highway 91 between Thedford and
Bartlett.

1/4 to 1 inch of rainfall, small hail and gusty winds to around 50
mph are possible with most thunderstorms. A few storms could become
severe and produce large hail and wind damage.

Locations impacted include...
Ainsworth, Bassett, Mullen, Springview, Long Pine, Newport,
Johnstown, Seneca, Brownlee, Merritt Reservoir, Norden, Valentine
National Wildlife Refuge, Wood Lake, Burton, Hofeld Lake, Speckel
Meir Lake, Bobcat State Wildlife Management Area, Thomas Creek State
Wildlife Management Area, Marsh Flat and Mariaville.

This includes the following highways...
 Highway 183 between mile markers 172 and 225.
 Highway 20 between mile markers 199 and 273.
 Highway 2 between mile markers 161 and 197.
 Highway 61 near mile marker 195.
 Highway 97 between mile markers 61 and 138.
 Highway 83 between mile markers 159 and 207.
 Highway 12 between mile markers 20 and 78.
