.NOW...

At 541 AM CST/441 AM MST/, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge
of an area of snow along a line extending from 9 miles north of Hay
Springs to near Naper. The snow was nearly stationary and extended
south to Lakeside in Sheridan County.

This snow was sticking to the roadways in Sheridan County and
Western Cherry County where temperatures are in the upper 20s. Cold
air will continue to move into Northern Nebraska and snow and slush
covered roads will become widespread this morning. Snowfall rates of
up to 1/2 inch per hour are expected through 8 am CST. Increasing
snowfall rates are expected between 8 am and 10 am CST with rates
near 1 inch per hour from Valentine west to Hay Springs.

This snow was part of a major winter storm which will affect Western
and North Central Nebraska through Friday with up to 18 inches of
snow.

Locations impacted include...
Valentine, Gordon, Rushville, Hay Springs, Spencer, Springview,
Butte, Lynch, Cody, Merriman, Naper, Kilgore, Nenzel, Gross, Merritt
Reservoir, Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, Medicine Lake, Norden,
Antioch and Crookston.

This includes the following highways...
 Highway 183 between mile markers 201 and 225.
 Highway 20 between mile markers 74 and 226.
 Highway 250 between mile markers 4 and 48.
 Highway 281 between mile markers 207 and 223.
 Highway 2 between mile markers 97 and 103.
 Highway 61 between mile markers 178 and 230.
 Highway 97 between mile markers 93 and 141.
 Highway 12 between mile markers 1 and 131.
