...September temperatures were well above normal for North Platte
and Valentine, while precipitation was above normal for both
locations as well...

For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of September was 65.6 degrees and was 3.3 degrees below the normal of
62.3 degrees. The average daily high temperature for the month
was 80.5 degrees which was 2.7 degrees above the normal of 77.8
degrees. The average daily low temperature was 50.6 degrees which
was 3.8 degrees above the normal of 46.8 degrees. One record high
temperature was set during the month of September in North Platte.
On the 22nd, the high in North Platte was 94 degrees, breaking the
record of 93 degrees set previously in 1938.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
September was 65.1 degrees which was 2.8 degrees above the normal of
62.3 degrees. The average daily high temperature for September was 80.1
degrees which was 2.8 degrees above the normal of 77.3 degrees. The
average daily low temperature for the month was 50.2 degrees which was
2.8 degrees above the normal of 47.4 degrees. Two daily temperature
records were set during the month of September for Valentine. On the
12th, the high in Valentine was 100 degrees, breaking the record of 99
degrees set previously in 1981 and 1939. On the 30th, the low in
Valentine was 60 degrees. This was the highest minimum temperature
reported on that date, breaking the record of 58 degrees set
previously in 1969.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for September totaled
4.75 inches which was 3.34 inches above the normal of 1.41
inches. September 2017 will go down as the 8th wettest September on
record for North Platte. Two daily precipitation records were set during
the month of September in North Platte. On the 23rd, 1.39 inches of rain
fell, breaking the record of 0.96 inches set previously in 2015. On the
24th, 2.03 inches of rain fell, breaking the record of 0.94 inches set
previously in 1886.

At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for september totaled 2.62
inches which was 0.98 inches above the normal of 1.64 inches. No
daily precipitation records were set during the month of September in
Valentine.
