...October temperatures were well above normal while precipitation
was near normal for North Platte and above normal for Valentine...

For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of October was 55.5 degrees and was 6.4 degrees above the normal of
49.1 degrees. October 2016 will go down as the eleventh warmest
October on record for North Platte. The average daily high
temperature for the month was 72.5 degrees which was 8.0 degrees
above the normal of 64.5 degrees. The average daily low temperature
was 38.6 degrees which was 5.0 degrees above the normal of 33.0
degrees. No daily record highs or lows were set during the month of
October in North Platte.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
October was 56.0 degrees which was 7.5 degrees above the normal of
48.5 degrees. October 2016 will go down as the sixth warmest October
on record, tied with the year 1938. The average daily high
temperature for October was 71.2 degrees which was 8.2 degrees above
the normal of 63.0 degrees. The average daily low temperature for
the month was 40.7 degrees which was 6.8 degrees above the normal of
33.9 degrees. No daily temperature records were set during the month
of October at Valentine.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for October totaled
1.54 inches which was 0.01 inches below the normal of 1.55 inches.
One daily precipitation record fell during the month of October. On
the third of October, 1.24 inches of rain fell at Lee Bird Field,
breaking the record of 1.02 inches set previously in 1930. For the
month, a trace of snowfall occurred which was 2.1 inches below the
normal of 2.1 inches. No daily snowfall records were set in October
2016 for North Platte.

At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for October totaled 1.90
inches which was 0.65 inches above the normal of 1.25 inches. One
daily precipitation record was set during the month of October for
Valentine. On the sixth, 0.85 inches of precipitation fell at Miller
Field, breaking the record of 0.75 inches set previously in 2011.
Snowfall for the month totaled 3.0 inches and was 1.5 inches above
the normal of 1.5 inches. One daily snowfall record was set during
the month of October. On the sixth, 3.0 inches of snow fell,
breaking the record of 2.5 inches set previously in 1925.
