RAINFALL TOTALS ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AS OF JULY
6TH 2015 THROUGH 1130AM CDT/1030AM MDT...

A POTENT UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND STRONG SURFACE COLD FRONT MOVED
ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON
AND EVENING HOURS ON SUNDAY...JULY 5TH...2015. BEFORE THIS
DISTURBANCE AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT CROSSED THE REGION...STRONG
UPPER LEVEL RIDGING DURING THE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS
ALLOWED TEMPERATURES TO SOAR INTO THE LOW 90S AND EVEN ABOVE THE
CENTURY MARK IN A COUPLE LOCATIONS. THE HIGHEST RECORDED TEMPERATURE
ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS
ON SUNDAY...WAS 102 DEGREES AT THE IMPERIAL AIRPORT IN CHASE COUNTY.

BY THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS...THE AFOREMENTIONED UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE AND SURFACE COLD FRONT BEGAN TO ENCROACH UPON THE
EASTERN PANHANDLE IN WESTERN NEBRASKA. NUMEROUS STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS BEGAN TO DEVELOP PRIOR TO THE 5PM CDT /4PM MDT HOUR
ACROSS THE EASTERN PANHANDLE AS THIS ENERGY APPROACHED FROM THE
NORTHWEST. STRONG WINDS IN EXCESS OF 90 MPH WERE REPORTED IN CENTRAL
SHERIDAN COUNTY...ALONG WITH HAIL TO THE SIZE OF PING PONG AND GOLF
BALLS. THESE THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED THERE EASTWARD TREK...PRODUCING
ADDITIONAL STRONG WIND AND HAIL REPORTS MAINLY ALONG AND NORTH OF
NEBRASKA HIGHWAY 2. THERE WAS ONE REPORT SOUTH OF THIS LINE IN
ARTHUR COUNTY...WHERE A RESIDENTS METAL ROOF WAS RIPPED OFF. IN
ADDITION TO THE STRONG WINDS AND LARGE HAIL...VERY HEAVY RAIN FELL
ALONG AND NORTH OF NEBRASKA HIGHWAY 2...WITH WIDESPREAD 1.00 INCH TO
AS MUCH A 4.00 INCHES OF RAINFALL REPORTED. THE HIGHEST RAINFALL
REPORT CAME APPROXIMATELY 34.0 MILES SOUTH OF VALENTINE IN CHERRY
COUNTY...WHERE 4.00 INCHES OF RAIN FELL.
