...AUGUST TEMPERATURES WERE BELOW NORMAL FOR NORTH PLATTE AND
VALENTINE...WHILE PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR VALENTINE AND
ABOVE NORMAL FOR NORTH PLATTE...

ABUNDANT PRECIPITATION FELL DURING THE FIRST HALF OF AUGUST ACROSS
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. HOWEVER...THE LAST TWO WEEKS
HAVE SEEN LITTLE OR NO PRECIPITATION ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA. TEMPERATURES WERE NEAR NORMAL FOR THE BULK OF
AUGUST. THE EXCEPTION WAS A ONE WEEK STRETCH FROM THE 14TH TO THE
24TH OF AUGUST WHICH SAW WELL BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR
AUGUST WAS 70.2 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.9 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF
72.1 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST WAS 83.9
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.2 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 86.1
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 56.4
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.8 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 58.2 DEGREES.

TWO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH AT NORTH
PLATTE. ON THE 17TH...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 66 DEGREES. THIS WAS
THE COOLEST HIGH EVER RECORDED ON THE 17TH OF AUGUST IN NORTH
PLATTE. THIS BROKE THE RECORD OF 67 SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1992. ON THE
23RD OF AUGUST...THE LOW WAS 40 DEGREES WHICH BROKE THE RECORD LOW
OF 41 SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1972 AND 1891.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF
AUGUST WAS 71.7 DEGREES...AND WAS 1.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF
72.8 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS
86.0 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.0 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 87.0
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 57.4
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.3 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 58.7 DEGREES.

TWO DAILY RECORD LOW TEMPERATURES WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF
AUGUST IN VALENTINE. ON THE 18TH THE HIGH TEMPERATURE IN VALENTINE
WAS 61 DEGREES. THIS WAS THE COLDEST HIGH TEMPERATURE ON THAT
DATE...BREAKING THE RECORD OF 62 SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1896. ON THE
24TH...THE LOW TEMPERATURE IN VALENTINE WAS 38 DEGREES...BREAKING
THE RECORD LOW OF 41 SET PREVIOUSLY IN 2010.

AT LEE BIRD FIELD IN NORTH PLATTE...PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST WAS
3.19 INCHES...AND WAS 0.90 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 2.29 INCHES.
ONE DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORD WAS SET DURING THE MONTH FOR NORTH
PLATTE. ON THE 7TH...1.42 INCHES OF RAIN FELL AT LEE BIRD FIELD
BREAKING THE RECORD OF 1.33 INCHES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1957.

AT MILLER FIELD IN VALENTINE...PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST TOTALED 1.89
INCHES...WHICH WAS 0.29 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 2.18 INCHES. NO
DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST IN
VALENTINE.
