...DECEMBER TEMPERATURES AND PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR BOTH
VALENTINE AND NORTH PLATTE...

MILD CONDITIONS WERE PRESENT FOR MOST OF DECEMBER ACROSS WESTERN AND
NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. IN FACT...TEMPERATURES AVERAGED WELL ABOVE
NORMAL THROUGH CHRISTMAS...THEN COOLED SHARPLY BEGINNING ON THE 26TH
OF THE MONTH. PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL FOR
BOTH VALENTINE AND NORTH PLATTE. RAIN FOLLOWED BY SNOW ON THE 15TH
AND 16TH BROUGHT OVER A HALF AN INCH OF PRECIPITATION TO VALENTINE AND
NORTH PLATTE. A SECOND SNOW EVENT OCCURRED IN THE DAYS AFTER
CHRISTMAS AND BROUGHT ANOTHER QUARTER...TO THREE TENTHS OF AN INCH
OF PRECIPITATION TO VALENTINE AND NORTH PLATTE.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR DECEMBER
WAS 27.0 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.6 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 25.4
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 39.0 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 0.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 39.1 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY
LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 15.1 DEGREES WHICH WAS 3.5 DEGREES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 11.6 DEGREES. TWO DAILY RECORD HIGH MINIMUM
TEMPERATURES WERE SET DURING THE MONTH FOR NORTH PLATTE. ON THE 12TH
THE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 36 DEGREES. THIS WAS THE HIGHEST LOW
TEMPERATURE EVER FOR THAT DATE BREAKING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 34
DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1897. ON THE 13TH...THE LOW IN NORTH
PLATTE WAS 47 DEGREES WHICH SHATTERED THE PREVIOUS RECORD HIGH
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 35 DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1921. THE 47
DEGREE READING WAS ALSO THE HIGHEST DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE EVER
RECORDED IN DECEMBER. THE PREVIOUS RECORD FOR THE MONTH WAS 44
DEGREES ON DECEMBER 27TH WHICH OCCURRED IN 1885.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR DECEMBER WAS
26.0 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.2 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 23.8
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR VALENTINE IN
DECEMBER WAS 38.6 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.0 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL
OF 36.6 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 13.5
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.5 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 11.0 DEGREES. NO
DAILY RECORD TEMPERATURES WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER IN
VALENTINE.

AT LEE BIRD FIELD IN NORTH PLATTE...PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER
TOTALED 1.04 INCHES...WHICH WAS 0.63 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.41
INCHES. DECEMBER 2014 WILL GO DOWN AS THE 12TH WETTEST DECEMBER ON
RECORD IN NORTH PLATTE. NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING
THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH TOTALED 8.7 INCHES
WHICH WAS 4.1 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 4.6 INCHES. ONE DAILY
SNOWFALL RECORD WAS SET DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER AT NORTH
PLATTE. ON THE 15TH...2.3 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AT LEE BIRD FIELD.
THIS BROKE THE RECORD OF 1.0 INCHES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1897.

AT MILLER FIELD IN VALENTINE...PRECIPITATION FOR DECEMBER TOTALED
0.90 INCHES WHICH WAS 0.53 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.37 INCHES.
ONE DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORD WAS SET FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER IN
VALENTINE. ON THE 15TH...0.37 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED
AT MILLER FIELD. THIS MARK BROKE THE RECORD OF 0.14 INCHES SET
PREVIOUSLY IN 1915. SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER TOTALED 8.7
INCHES AT VALENTINE. THIS WAS 3.6 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 5.1
INCHES. ONE DAILY SNOWFALL RECORD WAS SET DURING THE MONTH OF
DECEMBER IN VALENTINE. ON THE 15TH...3.5 INCHES OF SNOW FELL AT
MILLER FIELD. THIS BROKE THE RECORD OF 2.9 INCHES SET PREVIOUSLY IN
2005.
