...October temperatures and precipitation were above normal
for both North Platte and Valentine...

For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of October was 50.3 degrees and was 1.2 degrees above the normal of
49.1 degrees. The average daily high temperature for the month
was 66.1 degrees which was 1.6 degrees above the normal of 64.5
degrees. The average daily low temperature was 34.5 degrees which
was 0.9 degrees above the normal of 33.6 degrees. One daily record
temperature was tied set during the month of October in North Platte.
On the 20th, the low temperature in North Platte was 55 degrees. This
mark tied the record high minimum temperature for that date. This mark
also occurred in 1963, 1953 and 1941.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
October was 49.8 degrees which was 1.3 degrees above the normal of
48.5 degrees. The average daily high temperature for October was 64.7
degrees which was 1.7 degrees above the normal of 63.0 degrees. The
average daily low temperature for the month was 34.9 degrees which was
1.0 degrees above the normal of 33.9 degrees. One daily record
temperature was tied during the month of October in Valentine.
On the 23rd, the low temperature in Valentine was 48 degrees. This
mark tied the record high minimum temperature for that date. This mark
also occurred in 2010.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for October totaled
3.11 inches which was 1.56 inches above the normal of 1.55
inches. October 2017 will go down as the 10th wettest October on
record for North Platte. One daily precipitation record was set during
the month of October in North Platte. On the 6th, 1.80 inches of rain
fell at Lee Bird Field, breaking the record of 1.13 inches set
previously in 1976. Snowfall for the month totaled 0.6 inches which
was 1.5 inches below the normal of 2.1 inches.

At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for October totaled 1.30
inches which was 0.05 inches above the normal of 1.25 inches. No
daily precipitation records were set during the month of October in
Valentine. Snowfall for October was a trace. This was 1.5 inches
below the normal of 1.5 inches.
