PLATTE AND VALENTINE...

MARCH TYPICALLY WILL SEE A WIDE RANGE OF WEATHER AS WE TRANSITION
FROM WINTER TO SPRING...AND MARCH 2014 WILL GO DOWN SEEING THE
TYPICAL VARIABLE WEATHER. IN NORTH PLATTE THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE
DURING THE MONTH WAS -5 DEGREES ON MARCH 2...WITH A HIGH ON MARCH
26 REACHING 76 DEGREES. IN VALENTINE THE RANGE OF TEMPERATURES
WAS 95 DEGREES...FROM A LOW OF -21 ON MARCH 2 TO 74 DEGREES ON
ONLY A WEEK LATER ON MARCH 9.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH
WAS 36.6 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.4 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 38.0
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 53.1 DEGREES
WHICH WAS 0.6 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 52.5 DEGREES. THE
AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 20.1 DEGREES
WHICH WAS 3.4 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 23.5 DEGREES. NO RECORD
TEMPERATURES WERE SET AT NORTH PLATTE IN MARCH.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH WAS
33.5 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 2.7 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 36.2
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 48.2
DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 49.3 DEGREES.
THE AVERAGE DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS 18.8 DEGREES...WHICH
WAS 4.3 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 23.1 DEGREES. A COLD START TO
THE MONTH RESULTED IN THREE TEMPERATURE RECORDS BEING SET IN THE
FIRST 2 DAYS OF THE MONTH. ON THE FIRST A HIGH OF 9 DEGREES TIED
THE RECORD FOR LOWEST DAILY MAXIMUM SET IN 1960. ON THE MARCH 2
THE HIGH WAS ONLY 5 DEGREES WHILE THE LOW DIPPED TO 21 DEGREES
BELOW ZERO. THE HIGH SET A NEW RECORD FOR LOWEST DAILY
MAXIMUM...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 6 DEGREES SET IN 1989. THE
LOW OF -21 DEGREES BROKE THE OLD RECORD LOW OF -17 SET IN 1960.
NO OTHER TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET IN VALENTINE.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...PRECIPITATION FOR MARCH TOTALED 0.79
INCHES...WHICH WAS 0.26 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1.05 INCHES.
NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH AT NORTH
PLATTE. SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH TOTALED 6.3 INCHES...WHICH WAS 1.9
INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 4.4 INCHES. NO DAILY SNOWFALL RECORDS
WERE SET FOR THE MONTH AT NORTH PLATTE. SNOWFALL FOR THE SEASON
HAS REACHED 28.7 INCHES...WHICH IS NOW 0.9 INCHES ABOVE THE
YEARLY NORMAL SNOWFALL OF 27.8 INCHES.

AT VALENTINE...PRECIPITATION FOR MARCH TOTALED 0.49 INCHES WHICH
WAS 0.58 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1.07 INCHES. NO DAILY
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH AT MILLER FIELD.
SNOWFALL TOTALED 5.0 INCHES...WHICH WAS 1.5 INCHES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 6.5 INCHES. NO SNOWFALL RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE
MONTH AT VALENTINE. SEASONAL SNOWFALL AT VALENTINE IS UP TO 31.5
INCHES...WHICH IS 2.9 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL THROUGH THE END OF
MARCH...HOWEVER IS STILL 1.8 INCHES BELOW THE YEARLY NORMAL
SNOWFALL OF 33.3 INCHES.
