...July temperatures were well above normal for North Platte and
Valentine, while precipitation was well above normal for North
Platte while being well below normal for Valentine...

For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of July was 78.3 degrees and was 4.0 degrees above the normal of
74.3 degrees. The average daily high temperature for the month
was 93.1 degrees which was 4.9 degrees above the normal of 88.2
degrees. The average daily low temperature was 63.5 degrees which
was 3.1 degrees above the normal of 60.4 degrees. July 2017 will go
down as the 13th hottest July on record, tied with 1932. No daily
temperature records were set during the month, even though 100+ degree
temperatures occurred on 5 days.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
July was 81.2 degrees which was 6.7 degrees above the normal of
67.5 degrees. July 2017 will go down as the 3rd hottest July on record.
This compares to 1936 and 2012 which were the two hottest July`s on
record. The average daily high temperature for July was 97.7
degrees which was 9.0 degrees above the normal of 88.7 degrees. The
average daily low temperature for the month was 64.8 degrees which was
4.4 degrees above the normal of 60.4 degrees. Two daily high temperature
records were set during the month of July in Valentine. On the 9th, the high
in Valentine was 109 degrees, breaking the record of 106 degrees
set previously in 1976. On the 19th the high in Valentine was 112
degrees, breaking the record of 108 degrees set in 1934. This 112
degree high was the third hottest temperature ever recorded in Valentine.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for July totaled
5.19 inches which was 2.12 inches above the normal of 3.07
inches. July 2017 will go down as the fifteenth wettest July on record
for North Platte. One daily precipitation record was set during
the month of July for North Platte. On the 28th, 2.27 inches of rain
fell at Lee Bird Field, breaking the record of 1.63 inches set previously
in 2007.

At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for July totaled 0.73
inches which was 2.48 inches below the normal of 3.21 inches. July
2017 will go down as the thirteenth driest July on record for Valentine.
No daily precipitation records were set during the month of July in
Valentine.
