TUESDAY JULY 19TH 2016 ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA...

A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE...WHICH 500MB HEIGHTS MEASURED IN AT
597(DAM) DURING THE 00Z SOUNDING ON JULY 20TH AT NORTH PLATTE
NE...BROUGHT HOT TEMPERATURES TO ALL OF WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL
NEBRASKA. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURES OBSERVED ACROSS THE REGION
OCCURRED OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN PANHANDLE...WHERE 3.0 MILES WEST
SOUTHWEST OF BIG SPRINGS IN DEUEL COUNTY AND 1.0 MILE EAST OF
BRULE IN KEITH COUNTY...REACHED 102 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

IN ADDITION TO THE VERY HOT TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REGION...A
STRONG INFLUX OF GULF OF MEXICO MOISTURE WAS EXPERIENCED. THE
COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY...CREATED MAXIMUM
HEAT INDICES IN THE 90S TO 100S ACROSS MOST OF WESTERN AND NORTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA. THE HIGHEST HEAT INDEX MEASURED ACROSS THE REGION
WAS 110 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THIS 110 DEGREE READING...WAS MEASURED
2.0 MILES SOUTHWEST OF PAXTON IN KEITH COUNTY...AS WELL AS 1.0 MILE
SOUTH OF SUTHERLAND IN LINCOLN COUNTY.
