URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Accumulating snow and winter storm conditions are possible
Wednesday night through Friday morning...

.A strong upper level trough of low pressure will track across the
central Rockies on Wednesday. As this emerges onto the plains
Wednesday night, rain will develop across northwestern Nebraska.
As colder air pushes into western and north central Nebraska
overnight Wednesday night into Thursday, rain will change over to
snow from west to east. By Friday morning there is the potential
for 6 to 10 inches of snow across the sandhills and north central
Nebraska. In addition to snow, northerly winds will increase
Thursday night, leading to areas of blowing snow.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Winter
Storm Watch...which is in effect from late Wednesday night
through Friday afternoon.

* TIMING...Rain will change over to snow overnight Wednesday
  night, continuing into Thursday night.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...Storm total accumulations of 6 to 10 inches
  are possible with locally higher amounts.

* WIND...Northeast winds shifting to the north. Wind speeds of 10
  to 20 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH possible.

* IMPACTS...Travel will become difficult by Thursday into Thursday
  night due to falling snow and blowing snow.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
