.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1032 PM EDT Fri May 10 2024
It is a quiet night across the Florida Keys. KBYX is detecting
nothing on radar and GOES 16 Nighttime Microphysics is showing
just some high cirrus streaming from west to east across the
distant Straits of Florida. Temperatures along the Island Chain
are in the lower 80s with dew points in the lower to mid 70s. The
Big Pine Key RAWS is the cool spot this evening so far with a
temperature of 75 degrees due to radiational cooling that has
taken place. High pressure that dominated the weather across the
Keys the last few days has loosened its grip across the region as
a frontal boundary associated with a developing low pressure off
the North Carolina coast sags slowly southward along the Florida
Peninsula. Due to this, breezes along the Island Chain have become
light and variable with marine platforms around the Keys mainly
variable near 5 knots but the easternmost platforms are southwest
to west between 5 to 10 knots.

.SHORT TERM FORECAST...
The 00z sounding this evening remains dry from the surface all the
way up to nearly the top of the atmosphere. However, between 200
and 100 mb, there was a slight moistening present to the profile
which makes sense since GOES 16 Nighttime Microphysics shows very
high clouds streaming from west to east across the distant Straits
of Florida. The wind profile remains chaotic showing variable
conditions and winds generally 10 knots or less. With the winds
becoming light and variable this evening, Big Pine Key has been
able to experience a decent radiational cooling setup which has
allowed them to cool to 75 degrees so far. Therefore, the forecast
was updated for clearer conditions tonight and with the light
winds, decided to go ahead and update the forecast to mostly clear
and lows of 75 to 80.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1032 PM EDT Fri May 10 2024
There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect
across Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, variable
breezes this evening will becoming southwest to west overnight as
a frontal boundary moves down the Florida Peninsula. Winds will
continue to veer around the compass during the weekend as this
front approaches and dissipates in the vicinity of the Keys on
Sunday. Gentle to moderate southeast breezes will resume early
next week as another high pressure area moves over the western
Atlantic.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 1032 PM EDT Fri May 10 2024
VFR conditions are expected to persist through the TAF package.

west to northwest late Saturday afternoon.
