...River Statement For The Mulberry Fork...

.Expected heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours will produce rises
on the Mulberry Fork. However, levels are expected to remain below
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be
of minor nature.


The Mulberry Fork at Cordova.
* At 9:15 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Action stage is 18.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.3 feet
  early Friday morning.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Caution Stage.  Low lying banks in areas
  downstream of Cordova begin to overflow...including the Barney
  Beach...Copeland Ferry and Underwood Ferry areas.  Docks also
  begin to be impacted in these areas.


The Black Warrior River at Oliver Lock and Dam.
* At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 99.6 feet.
* Action stage is 122.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 129.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 126.3 feet
  early Friday afternoon.
* Impact...At 125.0 feet...Flooding of some roads leading into homes
  in the Hemphill Bend area southwest of Tuscaloosa occurs.


Another statement will be issued by Wednesday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
