...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN NEW HANOVER...
PENDER...SOUTHEASTERN BLADEN...NORTHEASTERN BRUNSWICK AND
NORTHEASTERN COLUMBUS COUNTIES THROUGH 630 PM EDT...

At 605 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Folkstone to near Lake Waccamaw. Movement
was southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Burgaw, Surf City, Hampstead, Northwest, Topsail Beach, Point
Caswell, Long Creek, Rocky Point, Currie, Castle Hayne, Riegelwood,
White Stocking, Wrightsboro, and Montague.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 40 between mile markers 400 and 416.
 Interstate 140 between mile markers 15 and 20.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
southeastern North Carolina.
