...WET CHRISTMAS AND HOLIDAY WEEKEND...

THE COLD FRONT THAT BROUGHT SEVERE WEATHER TO THE REGION WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON AND EVENING WILL LIFT BACK NORTHWARD TONIGHT...MOVING
INTO SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY DURING THE DAY CHRISTMAS. AS IT LIFTS
NORTHWARD...RAIN CHANCES WILL RETURN AFTER MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. THIS
FRONT WILL DRIFT SLOWLY NORTHWARD THROUGH SATURDAY...STALLING
AGAIN JUST NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT AND
CONTINUING TO STALL IN THE VICINITY THROUGH MONDAY.

THE PROXIMITY OF THIS FRONT...COMBINED WITH DISTURBANCES
TRAVELLING ALOFT OVER THE REGION...WILL BRING PERSISTENT RAIN
CHANCES THROUGH MONDAY. RAINFALL TOTALS FROM TONIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY AFTERNOON SHOULD RANGE FROM ONE TO THREE INCHES AREAWIDE.
THESE RAINS SHOULD COME SLOW ENOUGH TO KEEP FROM FLASH
FLOODING. HOWEVER...AREA STREAMS LIKELY WILL RISE...WITH A FEW
GOING TO FLOOD STAGE.

A STRONGER DISTURBANCE MOVING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST SHOULD PROVIDE
MORE FOCUS TO THE RAINS SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. FORECAST
RAINFALL TOTALS FOR THIS PERIOD RANGE FROM AROUND TWO INCHES IN
THE LAKE CUMBERLAND REGION TO THREE TO FOUR INCHES OVER SOUTHERN
INDIANA. THE COMBINED RAINS FROM EARLIER WOULD MAKE FOR A BETTER
CHANCE FOR RIVERS TO MEET OR EXCEED FLOOD STAGE...AS WELL AS FLASH
FLOODING UNDER THE HEAVIER THUNDERSTORMS MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT.

STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES AS AN ALREADY VERY WET 2015 COMES TO A
CLOSE.
