Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana
National Weather Service Louisville KY
358 AM EDT Thu May 2 2024

.DISCUSSION...Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected across the
region today with highs expected to reach into the mid-to-upper 80s
this afternoon. Winds will remain relatively light out of the south today,
increasing somewhat west of I-65 this afternoon as a front approaches the
region from the west. Smoke dispersion parameters will be primarily driven
by deep mixing heights this afternoon, with the boundary layer expected to
extend up to 7-8 kft during peak heating. Tonight, moisture will begin to
increase from west to east across the area as the aforementioned front
pushes closer to the region. This front is expected to bring on and off
chances for showers and thunderstorms Friday into the weekend, with
temperatures expected to remain above normal.
